A Message from the Brockton Housing Authority Executive Director

What does it take to make a home? Is it the bricks and mortar, the roof over our head; or is it a place of warmth on a cold winter day? A place of love, away from the dangers of the world? A place to do homework or to relax with family and friends? A place where we make a lifetime of memories.

Thomas Thibeault

Executive Director

I believe it is all of these things and much more.  In 2015 we continue our work creating and maintaining quality homes for Brocktonians.  A brief list of our efforts include our work with the City to rehabilitate foreclosed single family buildings for sale as homes to first time homebuyers; making capital improvements to the majority of our public housing portfolio to upgrade the homes of our residents; and continuing to add to our lengthy list of social and self-sufficiency programs available to our residents making it easier for them to enjoy their homes. Our staff completed thousands of work orders, repairing homes; preparing and tenanting several hundred families in new homes; issuing vouchers to assist families in finding new homes and tending to the various needs of our residents.  Each of these initiatives and actions continue our work towards providing a place that families are proud to call home despite the fact that budgets to support these homes were cut for yet another year.
It is within this environment of increased fiscal constraints that we, as an organization, must bear down and work diligently to fulfill our important mission of providing families a place to call home.  Through hard work, creative thinking, increased training and competencies, the Brockton Housing Authority continues to offer a quality place to call home to some of our community’s most vulnerable citizens.
True to the words of Horace, “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents, which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant”; our staff has gained and shared talents that would not have been obtained if not for the increased regulatory and fiscal challenges faced by our industry.
To ensure a continued high level of performance, our staff members have obtained professional certifications in areas such as Residential Apartment Maintenance, the EPA’s Renovate, Repair and Paint Program, Tax Credit Administration, Asset Management and many more.  The staff of the Brockton Housing Authority continues to be one of the most credentialed, well trained and committed group of employees in our industry.
Each of us must remain committed to meeting the high standards expected by our community and by our agency.  Though collaboration, grit and hard work we will continue on our journey to make the homes that we touch better places to live.
